in Edmonton Fall Clash
Record attendance for a November regular scholastic tournament
occurred Sunday at Edmonton Chess Club when 61 players competed in 10 round-robin sections.
Top A Section
honours went to Derek Thomas, with silver going to Ryan Lacy and bronze to Michael Ludwig. B Section medals went to David McCullough,
gold; Brandon Ma, silver; and Reg Whitfield, bronze.
In the C Section, Dennis Situ took gold, Ian McCullough
silver, and Richard Mah bronze. The top three in D section were, respectively, David Li, Dennis Rutar and a three-way tie for
bronze with Mariah Fournier, Vikram Ruppa-Kasini and David Lacy.
E Section was captured by Naveed Virji,
gold; Scott Pollock, silver; and Destin Chan, bronze. Daniel Bailey took gold in F Section, followed by Brendan Lacy, silver,
and Joel Leclerc, brozne.
G Section medal winners were David Zhang, gold; Imran Virgji, silver; and
Artur Lyssenko, bronze. H Section saw Sean Robertson win gold, Johnston Wang take silver, and Mitchell Powley receive bronze.
Jakob Kaiser took gold in I Section and Jared Hasell captured silver. Bronze was shared by Dustin Shemko and Tanner McLean-Poll. J Section had Austin Hesse capture gold while silver was shared by Collin Harrison, Joel Fleck and Luc Sauze.
Top draw prizes were claimed by Joel Fleck, David Lacy and Gabriel Mahamad. Directors were Bruce Thomas, Rob McCullough,
Walter Pavlic and David Ludwig. Parent assistantants were Elizabeth Whitfield, Terry Olson, Brandy Baron, David Lacy and
Alexander Kaiser.
