Roving ChessNuts Instructional Programs
index005003.gif
The Roving ChessNuts have been offering chess lessons to all ages for over five years, mainly in the Edmonton, Alberta region, but also at various workshops and school programs throughout Alberta.

While our emphasis is on student players, we particularly welcome opportunities to teach chess as a great family recreational pursuit.  All ages
benefit from learning, playing chess!
The easiest way to get started in learning chess is to contact us:

or e-mail us at rovingchessnuts@shaw.ca

For very young beginners needing one-on-one attention or adults,
we can offer private lessons; give us a call to discuss you needs.
We also advise any parent thinking of entering their elementary-age child
into their first tournament, to contact us if that child is not involved in a tournament chess
instructional program ... in most cases, children taught at home or self-taught are not
prepared to the competition offered at tournaments where many of the players have
been professionally coached and have a lot of tournament experience.
Schools wanting to book Roving ChessNuts programs for 2007/08 school year
should also contact us as soon as possible -
A limited number of instructional slots are available.

A junior high series of matches will be held later in the winter and junior highs wanting to book training
sessions for their teams of four players should book now.

Several adults and adult couples have recently inquired about chess lessons
and we may offer a beginners adult class in late September.
The class would occur on a weekday evening, weekly for at least six weeks.
Watch this site for details.
But if you are interested, please let us know by e-mail:  rovingchessnuts@shaw.ca
During the summer months, The Roving ChessNuts, in cooperation with
the City of Edmonton, conducts various chess activities for adults and youths at Sir Winston Churchill Square. In 2008, plans are in the work to try to have permanent outdoor chess tables installed at the Square.
